Beats On The Beach opens the opportunity to create a winning beat in our competition to any music producer, from well-established to beginner.
The project encourages collaboration among the Boston area community of musicians, artists, performers, and other creatives.
Our aim with the Beats On The Beach competition is to spotlight artists’ works, inspire musical innovation, and generate more recognition for the diverse talent our local scene possesses.
The Beats On The Beach Block Party connects musical artists into space for community and celebration.

LATRELL JAMES
The acclaimed Boston artist is our 2024 Beats On The Beach featured producer.
Latrell James is a hip-hop artist and producer from Boston, MA. James has become nationally recognized and built a loyal following thanks to his relatable songwriting and engaging live shows, which range from intimate performances in unique and fan-friendly settings to hitting big stages. After releasing his well-received debut project Still, standout singles such as "Tracphone" and "Mona List Bonet" have led to over 2M streams on Spotify.
Latrell has created the sound pack that the Beats On The Beach competition entries will use as the base inspiration for their beats.

Our 2024 featured producer, Latrell James, has put together a sample pack of sounds inspired by the beach available to all contestants. These include recordings of environment, samples of beach-inspired sounds, and his own samples.

We’re excited for every submission to this competition! Every beat builds the creative community that will gather at the Beats on The Beach Block Party.
2024 Beats On The Beach Competition Rules
Contestants must use at least 16 out of the 64 provided samples. There are two sample packs, and contestants are free to pick from either sample pack.
Submissions should be at least 1 minute, 30 seconds), and no longer than 2 minutes, 30 seconds.
Contestants must submit a brief written breakdown of their beat and samples chosen. Simple, short explanation describing things like what you were going for in your recording, why you selected the sample you chose, etc.
All non-BOTB samples used must be royalty free! We can not accept submissions with licensed samples. Our aim is to share these works, and so the track submitted must have all royalty-free and original sounds.
Contestants must submit their beats via the official Google Form by 11:59pm on July 1, 2024. No other forms of submission will be honored for the competition.
Contestants must mix & master their own beat themselves. This is a competition intended to showcase the talents, skills, and visions of local artists, and as such the beat must be original to the contestant.
The contest is open to all producers and genres. We encourage genre experimentation!
